REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Boundaries: Check to ensure that you live in the Bur Oak Secondary School attendance area by phoning the Guidance Department at 905-202-1234 Ext. 1003 or the York Region District School Board 416-969-8131.
Registration packages are available in the Guidance Office. The office is open Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm.
Once you have completed the registration package, call the Guidance secretary to schedule an appointment for an interview. A parent or guardian must accompany the student in order to register. Please bring the documents listed below with you to support your application. Please arrive at the school 10 minutes prior to your interview time. Sign in at the main office upon arriving to the school and then proceed to the Guidance Office, Room 1003.
Proof of Residency: Bring a copy of one of the following
- Current property tax bill from the Town of Markham
- MLS purchase agreement or New Home Builders purchase agreement
- Lease/Rental agreement with home owner’s property tax bill from the Town of Markham

If new to Ontario, you must first register with the York Region District School Board’s Reception Centre, 10909 Yonge Street, Suite 201, Richmond Hill 905-883-5241. Visa Students must contact the Admissions Officer at 905-883-0047 ext. 307. Once you have had your appointment at the Reception Centre, please call the Guidance secretary to make your registration appointment at Bur Oak Secondary School.
If Special Education is required, please provide the appropriate documentation (Individual Education Plan and Psychological Assessment).
